Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy may not quite be alternative medicine any more. Maybe it is almost mainstream now.

It is a therapy which includes energy-based bodywork, the food you eat, exercise and self-awareness.

The main thing that it does is try to correct blocked or unbalanced Human Energy Fields, which are electro-magnetic in nature and used in your mental, emotional and physical experiences.

Health is considered a reflection of how well the human energy field is performing, and Polarity Therapy tries to balance the electro-magnetic fields to maintain optimum health.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is about health improvement without the use of drugs or surgery.

Physical therapy helps you reach your best level of physical ability using movement.
You need to be involved in physical therapy so that you can learn how to look after your own injuries.

Physical therapy can help you get full movement back in your joints and muscles. You will likely be taught exercises that will improve your condition.

Physical therapy for you may also include exercising on specific machines that will help you to heal more quickly.

Apitherapy - Using bee products for healing.

Active manuka honey from New Zealand from bees feeding on the Manuka bushes there has amazing properties in the healing of skin infections and stomach ulcers.

For skin infections it is put on a bandage which is applied to the wound.

For stomach ulcers it is taken orally.

The honey does need to be certified as 'active'. A UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) of 15 or more is considered ideal.

Acupunture - Electro-Magnetic Treatment

Many body systems naturally use electro-magnetic energy.

Western scientist studying acupunture points have found that those points are strategic condutors of electro-magnetic energy (known as 'qi' in the east).

When these points are stimulated the electro-magnetic signals travel at a much faster rate through your body.

Most probably one of the reasons that stimulating acupuncture points is so effective for pain relief is that this augmented flow of electro-magnetic energy improves your body's production of pain killing substances such as endorphins.

Negative Calorie Diet

The theory behind this diet is that some foods need more calories to digest them that they contain.

The Negative Calorie diet supposedly works because some 'negative calorie' foods contain lots of vitamins and minerals which improve your enzyme production enough to break down not only calories in that food, but also other calories present in your digestive system. Here are some 'negative calorie' foods:
apple
cranberries
grapefruit
lemon
mango
orange
papaya
pineapple
raspberries
strawberries
tangerine
asparagus
beet
broccoli
cabbage
carrot
cauliflower
celeriac
celery
chicory
chile peppers
cucumber
dandelion
endive
garden cress
garlic
green beans
lamb's lettuce
lettuce
onion
radishes
spinach
turnip
zucchini

The idea is to eat as much of these foods as you like. Starvation makes your body save body fat. Hopefully these foods will increase your metabolism and your extra fat will burn itself off.

My personal take is to eat those foods raw. Then you get all their enzymes as well. Cooking kills all the enzymes naturally present in foods.

Buyteko Breathing to cure Asthma

Most of us breathe too deeply.

Breathing is normal when you have proper balance between production and elimination of carbon dioxide. If you breathe more than you need you are loosing carbon dioxide and won't have sufficient in your body. This type of breathing is called hyperventilation.

If you breathe properly carbon dioxide in your lungs is at 6.5% because that is the ideal ratio for you.

Chronic Hyperventilation Syndrome (CHVS) has been studied and documented in the medical literature for a long time. Many authoritative reports have been written on it. But although it is very common condition, it is frequently ignored by mainstream western medicine.

If you have asthma and go to your doctor you are more likely to get prescription drugs which can in themselves be harmful to your health, rather than help learning to get rid of it for life by breathing properly.

Buteyko therapy is named after Ukrainian medical doctor and research scientist, Professor Konstantin Buteyko. He developed what is now called Buteyko breathing to reverse Chronic Hyperventilation Disorders.

Professor Buteyko's realized that many diseases like asthma are caused by breathing too much.

The best way to learn Buteyko breathing would be to find a Buteyko teacher close to you and attend classes. Here is a description of what is entailed:

Prince Charles Champions Acupunture and Alternative Medicines

Prince Charles told a meeting of the world's health ministers on Tuesday that ancient cures like acupuncture and herbal medicines should be used alongside modern treatments to improve global health.

In a keynote address to the World Health Organisation's annual assembly, Charles said patients ought to seek "the best of both worlds" when treating chronic conditions like heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

"It is tragic, it seems to me ... that in the ceaseless rush to modernise, many beneficial approaches, which have been tried and tested and have shown themselves to be effective, have been cast aside because they are deemed to be old fashioned," he told a packed meeting hall at the U.N.'s European headquarters.

He said "increasingly robust evidence" had shown that acupuncture could effectively treat conditions such as osteoarthritis of the knee, and alleviate the nausea associated with anti-cancer drugs.

Acupuncture Basics - Background

Acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese medicine.

It sees that body as being composed of two opposing and inseparable forces, yin and yang. Yin is cold, slow and passive. Yang is hot, excited and active.

Health is achieved by maintaining the body in a balanced state between yin and yang.

Disease is believed to be due to an imbalance of yin and yang. The imbalance causes blockage in the flow of qi or life force energy, along pathways called meridians. There are 12 main meridians and 8 secondary meridians.

Traditional acupunture has 365 acupuncture points on these meridians, one for each day of the year. Modern acupunture has added more acupuncture points.

Stimulating the correct acupuncture points with needles, magnets or pressure can clear the blockage.

Keep Olive Oil in the Dark

Only buy extra virgin olive oil in metal cans and make sure to not let it get exposed to light for any extended length of time. The tocopherols and carotenoids which are the main antioxidants in olive oil are destroyed by light.

Antioxidants are very important for your health. They destroy free radicals.
